About GiQu
It’s pronounced “Jy-ku”, so you know.
I’m a 24-year old college graduate, currently looking to get into grad school.
I’ve got a Bachelor of Science in Physics, and a second one in Math.
I love physics, especially all fields that are sub-atomic. I have yet to decide on a specific sub-field to base my career around. Honestly they’re all so interesting. The only thing I don’t care for is String Theory, but everything else is fair game.
I’m hoping to be a college professor someday, researching and teaching.
I study philosophy in my spare time, but not with particular vigor as compared to my other interests. I find math proofs more interesting for they are more ‘real’. You can spend hours arguing about morals using the works of famous philosophers to back you up, which is interesting, but once you’ve made a proof in mathematics there’s hardly any un-proving it. Both are excellent exercises of the logical facilities of the human brain, however.
My knowledge of the Japanese language is kinda rusty, but I have previously studied it for two years (technically three, considering I took two years of first-level at different institutions and one year of second-level), and I’ve got a lot of dictionaries.
I like anime (Japanese animation), largely, but not limited to the giant robot genre.
I’m not a fan of “moe” anime. If you don’t know what that is, you’re probably best off not looking it up.
Within the last few years I’ve become a big fan of Tokusatsu, the Japanese live-action special-effects driven show genre which has given rise to Power Rangers in the US.
I play video games of almost any and every kind. I’m not great at shooter games, however, so I play those sparingly. I suppose either JRPGs or platformers are my favorites.
I play Sudoku, but not terribly professionally. I can do hard puzzles but I have no interest in solving for the fastest time. Furthermore I loathe two-answer puzzles.
My favorite sport is Ultimate Frisbee.
